I think Grason is going to come out smiling. When people are happy, it shows. Rachel and Bryan are just that. And when Rachel laughed or giggled, her belly laughed too. It was seriously cute :)
It was so sick trying to pick photos for this peek. And R, I almost showed my favorite photo from the end of the session but decided I had to keep some surprises for the gallery, haha. But knowing you’re probably as impatient as I am, you’ll be glad to know that you won’t have to wait much longer for your gallery. We can’t wait to see you both again and meet your baby man.
If you want to see one more of R&B, here it is.

The day after our session, this fun and happy family were on their way to Okinawa, Japan. For those of you that are military and have been PCSed overseas, I’m sure you can relate to the extra stress and preparation involved. Now imagine getting your orders and having to report in 2 weeks! But Amy handled her busy brood with ease during our couple hours together so I know they’ll all adjust quickly. I caught myself daydreaming about Okinawa since that day and wondering if that kind of culture change is harder on some people than others. I’ve lived there and while it is a change from the US, I was absolutely in love with it. Or was it easy for me because my mother is Japanese and I am biased? I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but I’d love to go back. All I’d need is a month to visit with family, shop like mad, and take a million photos.

Maybe one day :)

I visited in January and took over 2000 photos. You name it, I shot it. Cactus, trees, sunsets, wildlife, their style of houses, missions, reservations, my parents back yard, and even my dads new huge screen TV. What? I’ve never seen one that big. Finally, I decided to look at a few of them and one of these days I’ll go through them all-oops. I glanced through the thumbnails and too many caught my eye so I randomly chose a few to show. The first few are from Old Tucson, the old tree and altar are from San Xavier Mission, my Mom next to a Saguaro cactus [shes 5 feet for scale purposes, hehe], and a seriously awesome sunset. I was always looking to the sky while I was there. It was either a clear amazing deep blue or the clouds would gather in such unique formations.

I would have loved to have a model for the trip through Old Tucson. A woman in one of those layered southern dresses with a lace parasol and for the shot above, maybe a slightly dirty cowboy, haha.

I’m glad I went when I did. From what my dad described of the summers I really don’t think I could have been out long enough to see everything I did or get the photos. He said I could take a swim in the pool but I fear I’d never get out of it unless it was to go back in the house. I did get a kick out of seeing them in coats when it was 60-70 degrees out and I was in a t-shirt. It would drop to a whopping 50 at night and they’d bundle up like Eskimos to go out. I’d wear a long sleeve shirt and be fine. I think I’ll keep any future visits to Tucson in the winter.

Sweet:

Christmas, our Anniversary, occasional snow days, scarves, hot cocoa with extra marshmallows, winter break with the kids, Valentine’s Day, smaller electric bills, a break from sweating, babies in sweaters

cuddling to get warm, Sarah and John’s birthday [on the same day!] colorful fuzzy socks, and spending the whole day at the zoo without suffering heatstroke.

Bitter:

Bare trees and winter skin.
But I found a really good fix for the skin thing. Sugar+vitamin E oil. Pour a quarter sized amount of sugar in your palm- make sure your hand is dry or the sugar will melt. Add the oil then mix until the sugar is coated. Softly rub your face in a circular motion then rinse off. Pat your face dry and you will have a thin coat of vitamin E oil that your skin will absorb nicely while you’re sleeping. I love it. Most exfoliating scrubs dry out skin and use sand that can get trapped in your pores and cause blackheads-yuck! You can get vitamin E oil just about anywhere or just break open a couple of the tablets. Happy exfoliating :)

Olivia is a new walker. Every parent knows that it’s hard to keep them still once they go mobile. Babies eye things around the house for months and take mental notes just waiting for the moment when they could finally get their little fingers on them. It really is a whole new world for them and they take every chance they get to explore everything around them. Olivia had the cutest waddle when she walked. A favorite game was to walk to dad and the prize was a big hug and a toss in the air. She found rocks, saw cars and trucks, and even had a visit with a dog, which I’m sure to her, looked as big as a horse!
